SLIM DEVICES RELEASES SLIMSERVER VERSION 5.1.4
Includes support for SHOUTcast radio, WMA audio format, and Album Art
Mountain View, CA-April 20, 2004-Slim Devices Inc. announced today the release of SlimServer 5.1.4, a major update to the software that powers the award-winning Squeezebox network music player. Together, SlimServer and Squeezebox represent the easiest way for music lovers to enjoy high-quality playback of their digital music collection from the comfort of any room. The software can be downloaded for free from Slim DevicesÕ web site (www.slimdevices.com).
Since the release of SlimServer 5.0 in November 2003, notable additions to the standard software release include:
- Ability to browse and select MP3 radio streams listed in the SHOUTcast online directory through the Squeezebox main menu;
- Built-in support for WMA audio on computers running Windows OS;
- Ability to browse the music library by album artwork;
- Ability to select an album for playback from the cover;
- Enhanced language localization in response to a growing international customer base;
- Modified software architecture that makes it easier for developers to write plug-ins and further advance the platform.
A worldwide team of independent programmers helps Slim Devices develop SlimServer under an open source license making it possible to tap into the creative energies of a far greater number of individuals than companies many times larger than Slim Devices.
